Some Additional Halloween Costume Safety Tips

Everyone always wants to get the best deal. We look for bargains, sales, discounts, clearance items and more. However, parents need to keep in mind that although a costume may be inexpensive, you still have to concern yourself with your child’s health and well being.

With that being said, let’s keep in mind some basic Halloween safety tips for your Halloween!

First, make sure your child’s costume fits snugly and comfortably. You don’t want your little boy or girl to get caught on something with any loose hanging material. Worse yet, you don’t want them to trip and fall either.

Second, make sure that your child has some sort of bright and/or visible part of the costume so they may be seen at night. This can be difficult when your child has a vampire or other costume that is completely black. If that is the case, make sure to get them some glow sticks or glow necklace, which are available at most Walmart stores, and a flashlight. Also, you can get them a candy container that lights up.

Make sure your kids go out trick or treating with a group and at least one parent if your children are young.

Finally, make sure that your children remain a safe distance away from pumpkins, or the obvious pumpkin candles, or anything else that can start a fire. With long, draping costumes, it’s easy to get a sleeve or other part of the costume over a candle or pumpkin and catch fire.

Another option for older kids, why not keep them off the streets completely by throwing a Halloween party! There are a ton of websites with great information on Halloween recipes that are devilishly good! You could even have a night of fun with a night of kids Halloween movies.
